At the heart of the One Flesh experience is a foundational belief: true transformation begins with having the willingness to grow. We cultivate an environment where every young person and married woman is not only seen, heard and understood, but is also genuinely inspired to pursue their God-given potential and build a legacy of wholeness.
Participants meet with their Beyond Self mentor/leader in weekly or biweekly group sessions, where they engage with the Beyond Self Curriculum. In these sessions, leaders focus on cultivating self-worth and identity by building rapport, breaking down barriers, and unlocking potential.
Typically, each school has two Beyond Self Leaders—a male and a female—who mentor groups of 5–20 students. The program helps students develop the confidence they need as they progress through their academic careers.
Within the body of student-athletes at each Griffin/Spalding County middle and high school, Athletic Directors select up to 15 influential leaders each season. These Key People of Influence (KPOI) meet weekly or biweekly with the Beyond Self Leader assigned to their school. They participate in the Beyond Self Curriculum, focusing on character, responsibility, and leadership, and are charged with bringing those insights back to their teammates. Coaches are kept informed to reinforce accountability for the KPOIs and the team.
To kick off each season, in partnership with the local school system, we host a county-wide athletes assembly for all student-athletes. There, students learn about the program and are inspired by a dynamic speaker about the importance of these key traits.
This program not only works to develop student athletes, but to also positively affect the local student body at large.
An 8-week diversion program designed for at-risk teens and juvenile offenders. We currently partner with Spalding County Juvenile justice center in addition to DFCS-GA
Participants engage in weekly two hour sessions as leaders walk through the Beyond Self-Program Ignite Curriculum challenging them with fresh perspectives, ideas and strategies that cultivate self-value, emotional intelligence, better decision making and fruitful communication.
During the second hour of each session parents/guardians are required to attend to see what is being learned and support at home application.
Each session is concluded with the participants, guardians and Beyond Self leader sharing dinner together.
In 2024/2025 this program saw a 95% success rate in the reduction of repeat offenders.
